THE PROFILE OF BRILLIANT STARS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

By the special grace of God Almighty, the woman of vision of BSIS is Lady Mary Oriakumbadum Uche a.k.a. the brain doctor, a lover of children especially the highly intelligent little ones.

Right from school days, Lady Oriakumbadum has always been an outstanding scholar who frowns at dullards/dunce.  She always takes time to help her classmates, schoolmates and colleagues to understand the formula with which to solve any given assignment.  At times, she even acted like a real teacher then, by smacking the unreasonable ones, but ensured that they assimilated the lesson - no matter how stupid they  seem to be in understanding.

Oriakumbadum is also blessed with some special gifts i.e. vision, dream and discernment.

So, most times, she gets her inspiration on how to solve an impossible challenge from night visions..

Her vision is to eradicate stupidity; thereby contributing her own little ideas in promoting a world of  godly, outstanding, intelligible, impactful, sparkling brilliant stars.

Before the conception of  the idea to create BSIS; Oriakumbadum helps children in schools and in their homes after school -  she accepts anything or any amount her employers offered her in return; no matter how little the reward is.

When she gave birth to Glory Chizaramekpere Ojiugo Uche – her surviving daughter, who was very small and fragile; the sickly/fragile state of her newly born baby girl in the year 2001, debarred her from going from house to house to coach/give intensive extra-mural lessons  the slow learners.

So, the birth of Glory Chizaramekpere Ojiugo Uchechukwu who was born on 25th July, 2001, brought about the birth of Brilliant Ones Coaching Centre in August 2001 – As some desperate parents brought their children to the slum (where pigs were raised also where wastes/rubbish were dumped to fill the swampy land around where aunty Mary or Mrs. Uche lived as at then at Adogleta, Cotonou – Benin.

Brilliant Ones Coaching Centre continued to wax stronger and stronger with the sole help of God; And kept on changing buildings to befit each stage/level of growth it attained until the year 2006 when aunty Mary was privileged to acquire/rent a 3-bedrooms apartment with a very large parlour and spacious corridor which she used as her home, office and classrooms.  As at then, she does not work alone anymore; she then has the means to engage the services of up to sixteen (16) personnel who helped her to coach the children/pupils whose number has risen from two to four, from 10 to thirty etc with her direction/guidance

Then in year 2008, after her encounter with the God of Shiloh at the Shiloh ground; God used pastor Emeka Asoh Onuoha to inspire Oriakumbadum to change the name of the Coaching Centre from Brilliant Ones Coaching Centre to Brilliant Stars Coaching Centre. He also motivated and encouraged her to start a school as she (Oriakumbadum) already has about one hundred (100) pupils at the coaching centre besides being equal to the task and being fond of little children.

Oriakumbadum is highly blessed, endowed with unimaginable academic knowledge and understanding, above all is gifted by God,

Her excuse was that she has not yet received the GO AHEAD ORDER from God; beside that, she don’t   have the time to run around or travel about for the school – as having a school involves travelling and running around for one thing or the other from time to time.

While Oriakumbadum was preparing gradually – putting things in place i.e. acquiring necessary documents, hiring a larger accommodation, sourcing for information as regard to what it takes to create a school; etc.  On 13th April, 2009, her then employer Mrs Simisola Sylvester sent her a letter of relieve of duties in her home via the then principal of Newcastle Int.l School Cotonou without any prior hint/notice.  This development of not having a place of work to go in the morning when school resume on 27th April, 2009 geared Oriakumbadum to action – This prompted her to declare the school open on 27th April, 2009 (to her willing trusted clients) at the coaching centre venue: c/236, Midombo, Akpakpa – Cotonou.  With encouragement from Mrs Ola Divine Emeka Asoh, BSIS was inaugurated/opened formally on the 15th of Maym 2009.  It was dedicated to God by the Snr. Pst. (Martins Nya) of World Mission Agency (a.k.a. Winners Chapel Int.l) Cotonou, Benin Republic.  At the main school’s premises at C/235, Midombo, Akpakpa – Cotonou, (behind Pharmacie – Midombo).

BSIS  started with thirty(30) brilliant stars and eleven(11) aspiring teachers.

The unforgettable mentors behind BSIS were: Pst./Dcns David Emeka Asoh Onuoha, Ever-sweet mummy Obiageli Osarhiemen Emmanuel and Mr Georges-Peniel Chinagorom Azubike (the later) helped Oriakumbadum in locating the places where her legal documents were processed.  He also accompanied her to the appropriate Ministry of Education Offices to get BSIS formally registered(after Oriakumbadum has withdrawn the first set of documents that were submitted for registration which were not duly signed by Oriakumbadum but by another person whom she did not authorize to do so on her behalf).  This was done to prevent future dispute concerning the real owner of BSIS.  Mr. Georges-Peniel Azubike worked as an office-assistant/class-teacher in BSIS from 04/01/2010 – 13/07/2010.  He stopped work abruptly after his scheme to over-throw Oriakumbadum as the school owner was disclosed and aborted.

The colours of BSIS ‘ uniforms are: Royal/Navy blue and White (which signify LOVE & PEACE)

The designs/patterns of BSIS’ uniforms were realized/drawn by the woman of vision herself and the samples of the drawn patterns were sewn by Mr. Uche Ihekwaba who was then the school tailor but now the school’s chairman.

BSIS is a DAY-CARE, NURSERY,PRIMARY& SECONDARY SCHOOL with Boarding facilities.  BSIS also runs an Intensive Extra-Mural Classes for pupils from ALL schools and a Special Practical Computer Programme for pupils from 3 years and above.  It is well equipped with sophisticated learning facilities which include:  computers(desktops, flat-screens, tower-tops), phptocopiers, scanners, printers, well-equipped library, etc.  The school is also equipped with modern playthings like swings, slides, see-saw, merry-go-round, toy mountable animals, dolls, singing toy ball, house and cars, xylophones, baby’s cot, bed pusher, etc.

BSIS  is known as TRANSFORMATION CENTRE – as no child is under-rated.  Pupils learn in a friendly and conducive learning environment.  It is not a profit-oriented but SERVICE ORIENTED school.  About  sixteen subjects are taught in BSIS.  The rod is not spared to spoil the child:  The hallmark of both pupils and teachers is DISCIPLINE.  BSIS is an enviable and well-reputed school where every child is given adequate and equal treatment.  The strategy employed to achieve the school’s aim is by employing more than one qualified, experience and devoted teachers to mind the affairs of each class:  While one teacher teaches, the others monitor the pupils’ compliance to the teachings.

Within the pace of one academic year, the numerical strength of the school has grown from 30 pupils to 147 sparkling stars.

BSIS celebrated her 1st Anniversary/Prize-Giving Day in a grand-style on 24th of July, 2010 with: The wife of the Snr/ Residence Pastor of World Mission Agency (Mummy Martins Nya) as the day’s Special Guest of Honor also,Mrs Obiageli Osarhiemen Emmanuel – the former Principal of NICS,  Mr. Uche Ihekwaba (the school’s chairman), Mr. Uwawike Ugo a.k.a. ONYEZE,                                                 Deacon Paul Idika Okpa (the elder brother of the visioner), Chief Olaq Efere Agwu ( the mother of the visioner) and host of other important dignitaries in the society.

BSIS’s System of Operations were adapted from:

Orunbon Commercial Institute – Lagos State, Nigeria.                                                                   Early Learning International School – Cotonou, Benin.                                                      International Model Schools – Cotonou, Benin.                                                                       Newcastle International Christian School – Cotonou, Benin., respectively.

The pressing need of the school as at date is three plots of land where the school’s building complex will be built.

The school’s visioner’s greatest desire/dream is to affiliate the school with a well-reputed/advanced school in US/UK in no distant time by God’s special grace.  Also to have the home-based of the school especially at Lagos state of Nigeria and Abiriba, the home-town of Oriakumbadum Uche – the  visioner of BRILLIANT STARS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL.
